The fact that prosperity exists where liberalism and free market principles are
firmly in place has been confirmed through an abundance of historical evidence.

The CFE`s main focus for new year is publicity

Dear members,

I wish you a happy new year and all of your wishes come true. I hope you to achieve great success and our country to make a leap forward.
The Center for Free Enterprise will make 2011 a year of big change. We will attempt an innovative way of communication, on top of our traditional research and column-writing activities.

We will seek to actively lead the public opinion.

First, we will create more popular broadcasting contents to preach the philosophy of liberalism and free market. Two talk-show programs have been already launched. is now aired every week on Business & TV, a cable channel run by the Chosun Ilbo newspaper. After a break in January, the program will resume at the end of February.

You can also enjoy a 30-minute daily talk show program, , from Monday to Friday beginning on January 3 on IPTV channel Dailian TV. It will please and satisfy all of our members who have been tired of boring and highly-controlled debates. We will try even wrap songs and political comedies in mid-February, the first attempt in Korea. This will herald a new chapter for the liberal movement.

I hope we can provide fresh and rich contents for new TV channel operators.

Our second task is to change the public opinion, which is overly leftist. It was long ago that the words such as productivity and competitiveness were discussed in public debate. Instead, welfare, fairness, win-win cooperation have filled the society. Such a populist propaganda will gain more popularity this year ahead of the presidential election. Under the circumstances, Korea is barely able to survive in the global power game. To meet the challenge from the fast-growing China, Korea should pace up its annual growth speed to 7 to 8 percent. We need to strengthen our economy as big as Germany and France to squarely confront China. For this goal, we need to revive the words such as productivity, growth, and competitiveness.

Aggressive campaigns

We will launch more aggressive campaigns, including going out to the street to meet the citizens. We will call for the government to cut waste in budget spending on behalf of taxpayers and mobilize consumers to demand producers to enhance their productivity. We will boost our efforts to promote more free trade agreements for the sake of consumers` interest. We hope those moves to create a natural public sentiment supporting economic growth. A dozen of candle-lit vigils at the Cheonggye Plaza during the windy December will lay a ground for new public movement.

All-out efforts for better communication

Our third task this year is to use various media to improve communication with the public. The CFE has relied mostly on written works as our primary readers were intellectuals. Although we began to produce video programs last year, they are not popular yet. We will expand into more public-friendly media, such as cartoons, animation movies, and children`s story. More surprisingly, we will make songs and music video programs to promote our causes. You can enjoy our contents through various channels. We will also approach closer to internet users or netizens with more communications via twitter and facebook.

Our primary goal for 2011 is to enhance publicity so that we can make more Koreans liberal. We will continue our enormous efforts until most of the Koreans become a liberal. Your strong support and kind advice will be highly appreciated.
