Milton Friedman Legacy for Friedman - Recap
Starting at around 8pm, Casey Lartigue introduced the host of the event, the Center For Free Enterprise, now known as the Liberty Society. With the mood set with a nice rap by some of the members of the Liberty society, everyone was ready to jump into the lecture by Professor Cole
Professor Cole discussed Korea`s prosperity as well as delving into some of the achievements gained by the free market system, achievements as far reaching as providing security to Africa. It seems that the United States could really learn a few lessons from South Korea!
Next up was Casey, who talked a little about the great work he`s done in Washington D.C to improve the education.
For those of you that don`t know, Casey helped set up the educational voucher system in place in Washington D.C. This systems aims to provide the education system with healthy competition to help foster greater teaching and growth in our schools. Casey nearly singlehandedly was able to gather support from parents all over Washington and put the educational voucher system in place.
Soon after Casey`s talk, the floor was opened up for questions and comments. Of course everyone was itching to get in on the discussion
With our limited time, we had to close at 10pm, but nobody was ready to go home. It`s clear that there`s a shared passion for Friedman`s ideas, and we expect an even bigger turnout to our next event, Korea`s Economic "Miracle". I`m sure it will be just as fruitful as this one, so I hope to see you there too!
